Morton, home of the Loggers
Jubilee and historic "railroad tie" capitol of
the world, is nestled in a valley between Mt.
Rainier National Park and Mt.
St. Helens National Volcanic Monument at the junction of
Washington SR 7 ( National Park Highway ) and US HWY 12, a Washington
Scenic byway. The scenery is spectacular and the ambiance of
the small rural town abounds.
Recreational activities are nearly unlimited and
they include fishing in the nearby lakes and rivers, hiking through
the pristine forests, skiing at White Pass, hunting and wildlife
viewing. The hub of East Lewis County, Morton has banks and a credit
union, two full service grocery stores, a laundromat, shops, restaurants,
airport, hang gliding and an award winning Ford dealership to serve
the community. Healthcare needs are met through Morton General
Hospital which offers a full range of services including a 24 hour
staffed ER.
The elementary, middle and high schools are complemented
by Centralia
College East which offers advanced educational and training
opportunities.
High speed Internet and commercial train transportation
are available in Morton. Real estate prices are moderate and potential
business locations exist.
The Morton, Washington Chamber
of Commerce is an energetic group of local individuals and business
leaders working toward a common goal of creating a new and vibrant
business community in Morton and the greater Lewis County region.
